GAZA URGENTLY NEEDS YOU!

Over 8000 people have been killed in Gaza. 40% of them are children.

3,195 children killed in three weeks surpasses annual number of children killed in conflict zones since 2019.

Over 1.1 million people displaced, without shelter, food or medical necessities.

AusRelief has been in Gaza for over 5 years. Our local team is on the ground sourcing local supplies. We’ve built strong collaborations and partnerships with suppliers who trust us. We plan 12 months ahead, exhaust all means necessary and are dedicated to navigating through complex channels to ensure your donations reach Gaza directly.

Our partner hospital has 100 ward beds, 4 operating theatres, and a 10-bed intensive care unit. This hospital will NOT be able to continue its much needed work without your support.

Humanitarian aid will be required for years to come to re-home those who have been displaced, look after the orphaned children, and deal with the aftermath of this crisis.

Gaza
  1. What is the current situation in Gaza?

The situation in Gaza right now is extremely challenging, it was already dealing with a major humanitarian crisis before it got worse. For the past 16 years, there's been a blockade imposed by Israel, and it's had some devastating effects. In October 2023, things took a turn for the worse when Israel implemented a total siege of Gaza.

  1. Is the Egyptian Rafah crossing open for aid entry?

The Rafah border is a crucial entry and exit point for Gaza, connecting it to Egypt. But here's the deal: Israel has been blocking access to and from the crossing since the blockade began. They've even bombed it a few times. To date, only 20 aid trucks have been allowed into Gaza. To put it in perspective, usually 100 trucks enter daily!

  1. Why is there a crisis in Gaza?

The crisis in Gaza is pretty complicated, and it's been going on for a while now. Here's what's been happening:

  1. On 7 October 2023, Israel put a really strict blockade on Gaza. This caused big problems like cutting off electricity and water, and it made it hard to get important stuff like food, fuel, and medicine.
  2. Gaza has had to rely a lot on international aid because they don't have many resources and they've got some infrastructure challenges. With all the restrictions and blockades, they've had to depend on aid even more.
  3. Gaza doesn't have full control over its own territory. Israel calls the shots when it comes to Gaza's waters and airspace, which makes it tough for Gaza to run its own show.
  4. The Rafah crossing is a big deal for people in Gaza who want to go in and out. But Israel has closed it off at times, making it hard for people to move around freely.
