Catastrophic floods continue to cause widespread destruction in Pakistan. Since June of 2022 over 33 million people have been affected, more than 1000 people have lost their lives, and the death toll continues to rise. Hundreds of thousands of livestock have been killed, millions of homes have been destroyed and acres of the crop have now been decimated, taking away people's livelihoods.
The downpour of rain this year was nine times higher than the average leaving one-third of the country completely submerged under water.
“Pakistan has never seen an unbroken cycle of monsoon rains like this. Eight weeks of non-stop torrents have left vast strips of the country underwater."
- Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s climate change minister.
The government has officially declared this a national emergency
AusRelief is on the ground working to facilitate the families by providing them with survival kits, tents and ration bags across the country. Any amount donated will go towards the greatest needs to relieve those in flood-affected regions of Pakistan.
