Today at the RFS NSW State Operating Centre, we learnt of the magnitude of both the bushfires and the incredible efforts to stop them. With heavy hearts, we listened to the staggering statistics of bush, wildlife, homes and human lives lost. We are incredibly moved by the selfless volunteers who have given up their time, paid income and health to fight the fires and protect their community.
As we walked through the blackened bushland of the Hawkesbury District and the town of Bilpin, we were able to sense the devastation on the landscape.
