After her family was brutally executed, Maryam fled Myanmar - she was 9 months pregnant.
In the forest, she gave birth to her third son. No food, no water, no resources.
"I have no idea how I made it. I had no water. It was so painful. I think Allah helped me during my delivery."
We met Maryam and her 20 day old baby in the Rohingya refugee camp. She told us how she and her two other sons survived on only “...bananas, trees and leaves.”
“My uncles and aunties with a few other elderly family were beheaded by the [Mynamar] Army”, she said.
Unfortunately, stories like this are not uncommon. Many refugees like Maryam have fled from their homes in order to live and protect their children.
Maryam and her family live in squalor in the Kutupalong refugee camp (Cox Bazaar, Bangladesh)- the worlds biggest refugee camp and home to over 1.5 million Rohingya refugees.
Your Zakat will change Maryam’s life and that of thousands of other refugees across the globe!
